The high carved tombs can be accessed from two straight paths sloping towards the Nile on the eastern side, two straight paved roads for the rise and descent of groups of people, and each of them has two stone walls. There are tombs of the ancient Egyptians in three layers at a height in the middle of the mountain .. The number of tombs from the era of the ancient Egyptians exceeded 100 tombs, and about 1000 people, including men, women and children, were buried there. Most of them date back to the Old Kingdom and the New Kingdom.

  Abu Simbel

Some were rescued from under the waters of Lake Nasser. Today, thousands of tourists will visit temples daily. Convoys of buses, escorted cars, depart twice a day from Aswan, the nearest city. Visitors arrive by plane at the airport, which was built specifically for the temple complex.

The museum includes many statues of kings and individuals, some mummies of the ram, the symbol of the god "Khnum", various types of pottery, architectural and decorative elements, a number of coffins, tools of daily life, and some funerary paintings. In recent years, the German mission excavating in Elephantine, in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Antiquities, established an annex to the old museum located to the north of it and includes some of the antiquities that the mission found during its excavations that took place for many years on the island.

    The Nile Museum

             

It is a museum whose construction began in June of 2004, and the museum was opened to visitors on January 10, 2016, in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Irrigation, and representatives of 11 African countries from the Nile Basin countries, where the cost of establishing the Nile Museum amounted to 82 million pounds, and the museum is located on an area 146 thousand square meters, of which one thousand square meters were allocated from Aswan Governorate, and the rest is from the Ministry of Irrigation, and 129 thousand square meters were allocated for display. The museum includes exhibition halls, conferences, a library, a senior visitor hall and administrative offices, in addition to a general site that includes the eye stream area and green spaces.
